2012-2013 Spotlight: REGIONALS

The Regional Acting Competition is three months away, but there are important new developments that you will want to understand as preparations get underway.

Oregon is working to align our guidelines with those of EdTA’s National Individual Events Showcase (NIES) process.  You can look at the NIES guidelines here.

Our guidelines for this year have been updated.  Please take the time to review them.  Following our December Board Meeting, we will post the updated ballots, based on the new forms created for the NIES.  To preview the NIES ballots and guidelines, click here.

2012-2013 Spotlight: Main Stage Productions

The committee on Main Stage Productions at State (previously called Main Stage Showcase) has been hard at work with clarifying and improving the process of responding to and selecting high-quality theatre for presentation at our annual Festival.

Click here to review the updated information, including new deadlines, important requirements, and the option for live response for your cast and crew following a performance!

Remember that submitting a show for consideration as a Main Stage Production at State is a process that is best begun well in advance of your actual production.  Explore this information first!

Are you ready to Improv?

Hundreds of Thespians will be gathering in Grants Pass on Saturday, October 6, for the annual Improv Festival.  The day begins with registration at 8:30 am and will conclude with awards by 4 pm.  When you arrive, your group will be divided among several teams (no two students from the same school are on the same team) and you’ll be given some instruction and time to prepare before showing your stuff!

Note that food will not be available for purchase on campus, so you’ll either need to plan for the trek off-campus (15+ minutes, walking) or bring a lunch.  Talk with your Troupe Director regarding lunch plans.

Thespian Leaders Assemble!

The 2012 Oregon Thespians Leadership Summit is this weekend, as Troupes from throughout the state send two representatives to a 6-hour meeting of the minds.  Our State Thespian Officers (STO) have been hard at work on this important event, which begins Saturday evening at Jesuit High School, and concludes Sunday at the Portland Center for the Performing Arts (PCPA), with a performance of LEGALLY BLONDE THE MUSICAL.
